A good framework to understanding why we do what we do is Habit Loops. If we reward masculinity and punish femininity, it’s easy to see why we use Maskulinity.
Too many men don’t take off the LONE WOLF mask-ulinity: Demands men should not ask for help. As of 2015, almost two-thirds of worldwide suicides are committed by men.
Trigger: Feeling pain/shame
Routine: Put on Lone Wolf Mask
Reward: avoid feeling weak/getting shamed
Would these stats be different if as men we learned to take off the Lone Wolf mask and ask for help? What if as a community we celebrated vulnerability as courageous instead of weakness?
